Library as a learning Resource

Today, information is one of the most important ingredients of our academic activities. Information leads to the generation of knowledge. An academic institution always takes necessary steps to gather or procure the relevant bits of knowledge from various sources. Needless to say it is the library / information centre of an institution that is entrusted with the task of procuring, organizing and displaying the various sources of knowledge in different media and also disseminating them to the users. Library is a growing organism. It is said that in the library a student absorbs the value of civilization, improves his reading habits and gains an appetite for things intellectual.
Our college has built up an excellent library which strives to update information sources and media for the users. In this sense, it is aptly called as Storehouse of Knowledge. The library is housed in a separate block, named as ‘Silver Jubilee Memorial Library’ which is easily accessible to all the departments, class rooms, staff residence and hostels. The ground floor has a spacious reading room with a carpet area of 4000 sq. ft. The first floor or the mezzanine has a carpet area of 2800 sq. ft.
The ground floor is the reading and reference section for the students. It has got 80 seating capacity. The first floor has got a seating capacity of about 25, which is meant for the staff of the college. By providing separate tables and chairs to the students, individual attention is taken. Proper ventilation and lighting is provided. Our library also extends its services to the faculty members and students of our sister institutions like S.N.Mudbidri Polytechni, A.G.Soans ITC and M.K.Ananthraj College of Physical Education.
Our library has open access system. The students are required to write their name, class, Roll No and sign in the register kept in the counter. They have direct access to the books of their choice from the shelves.
